Fine art transport carried out..  state-of-the-art!

The International Art Exhibition, the “great mother” of all the Biennale activities, was organised for the first time in 1895 and immediately became one of the most important art exhibitions in the world.

This year 59th International Art Exhibition is entitled “The milk of dreams”. It focuses on three main themes: the representation of bodies and their metamorphoses; the relationship between individuals and technologies; the connection between bodies and the Earth.

The Exhibition also features, as usual, the National Participations, with each country presenting its own exhibition in the Pavilions of the Giardini and the Arsenale, and in the historic centre of Venice and a selection of Collateral Events organized by international institutions.

An event of this magnitude requires a great deal of planning and coordination.

The Chinese Pavilion (META-SCAPE)

We were pleased to be nominated the freight forwarder in charge for the logistics of the artworks destined to the Chinese Pavilion.

In cooperation with our Chinese partners, and with the invaluable support of our native Chinese-speaking staff, we coordinated the local operations, from the containers arrival in Italy to the artworks delivery at the Chinese Pavilion in Venice.

4 40’HC containers were shipped by train arriving at the Milan railway station, while 1×40’OT arrived by sea transport service, port of discharge Genoa.

To transfer the containers from the respective port and railway hub of arrival to our customs warehouse in Marghera, we have issued a T1 transit document.

At the end of the Biennale, on November 27, 2022, the artworks will come back to their original exhibition venues in China. For this reason, the customs clearance of the artworks took place under the temporary admission regime (as an alternative to the ATA Carnet).

“The temporary admission system permits the temporary importation of non-EU goods, for various uses, with total or partial exemption from customs duties (duty and VAT) and without the application of commercial policy measures. Goods under temporary admission must be re-exported without having undergone any changes apart from the normal depreciation due to use.”

Once moved the containers to our warehouse in Marghera, we could go ahead with the customs formalities and unstuffing operations.

Afterwards, we could transfer by truck all artworks, packed inside strong wooden crates, to the adjacent Marghera seaport and reload them on pontoons and motorboats with the aid of mechanical means.

Once reached the Arsenale quay and unloaded the material, we opened the wooden crates and delivered the art pieces to the staff in charge.

You can enojy the Chinese Pavilion and the Venice Biennale until 27 Nov 2022.
