From Thailand to Cersaie in Bologna, the exhibition goods travels with the ATA carnet
Cersaie is the foremost international event for designers of ceramic and other surface coverings and bathroom furnishings.
2018 Cersaie edition registered more than 112,000 attendees, half of whom are international visitors from all over the world. This year edition, starting from next week, is expected to be even more successful: exhibitors will be 890 (last year they were 840), 341 of whom coming from abroad (in 2018 foreign exhibitors were 314).
In collaboration with our freight Thai partner, we managed the international transport and the expo logistics operations on behalf of a ceramic-tiles producer from Bangkok.
We supported our client with the handle of the international sea transport of the exhibition goods from Thailand to Italy and with the expo logistics services.
A total of seventeen packages were shipped in a 20’DV container, departed from Laem Chabang, at the end of July and arrived in Genova, in August.
Due to the fact, the goods will be shipped back to Thailand (temporary importation ) at the end of the event, they had to be accompanied by ATA carnet, and we had to present the original document to our customs broker.
Once the temporary importation was authorized, the container was delivered to a specialized expo logistics company in charge of the stand assembly.
When Cersaie 2019 edition will be concluded, this company will dismantle the booth and pick up the goods. The ATA carnet will be re-presented to the customs in Genoa in order to verify the match of the goods that were initially imported, and the original document will be sent back to Thailand along with the exhibition goods.
Ata carnet
The ATA Carnet (Admission Temporaire / Temporary Admission), often referred to as the “Passport for goods” or “Merchandise passport”, is an international customs document that permits and facilitates the tax-free and duty-free temporary exportation/importation of nonperishable goods in countries members of the ATA Convention.
For this peculiarity the exported goods, as a rule, must be reintroduced in the country of origin in compliance with the term of validity of the document (maximum one year from the date of issue).
