From Xiamen to Shanghai, to Singapore, to Hong Kong and to Japan: Asia tour? No, sea freight shipments in cross trade!
What do these destinations have in common? Our Italian client asking us to manage a cross trade booking of shopping bags to be delivered to his customers in Asia.
With the collaboration of our Chinese logistics partner, we managed four sea freight shipments with goods pick up from the same warehouse in China by door-to-door service, incoterm DDP.
Three of these sea freight shipments were handled in groupage container, with destinations Hong Kong, Singapore and Shanghai. Our Chinese freight forwarder managed the collection of the goods from Xiamen warehouse, cooperating as co-loader. He divided the shopping bags into three consignments by palletizing them. Pallets were also deprived of the marking revealing the real Chinese supplier: this was very important in order to protect our Italian client’s sales interests.
Except for the delivery to Shanghai (from China to China), the export customs clearance for the sea freight shipments with destination Hong Kong and Singapore were appointing as shipper the Chinese supplier and as consignee the Italian company.
When shipping to Japan, we organized a 40’ft container shipment FCL. The documents for the customs clearance were indicating as exporter the Italian company and as receiver the Japanese client.
The customs duties were entirely payed by our customer in Italy. With regard to the issued bills of lading, they were indicating as shipper the Italian company and as consignee the real receivers.
The customs clearance and the deliveries in the several destination countries were managed with the collaboration of our local freight forwarding partners from Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan.
The golden rule of these sea freight shipments in cross trade? To protect the commercial interests of the parties involved. Everything is clear? Now you can enjoy and “cross” Asia!
