How is the situation of the container sea transport?

Container sea transport, which had already been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, has to deal also with the Suez Canal blockage.

As international freight forwarders, in our daily operations, there’s a a strong lack of empty containers plus shortage of vessel capacity and bad on-time vessels perfomances.

According to Sea-Intelligence, a research and analysis company specialized within the container shipping industry, the European export capacity will suffer a major impact in the coming weeks because many ships will arrive late in Asia and will essentially generate a round of blank sailing.

When planning their supply chains, the European shippers have to consider any possible delays in the vessels’ departures directed to Asia (we are talking about 1-2 weeks) and evaluate any alternative solutions such as the railway service connecting Asia and Europe.

Our team remains at your disposal for any further clarification.
