China, a “luxury” economy!
Despite the difficulties related to Covid-19, the demand for Made in Italy furniture continues to grow in China. Italy is among the top countries exporting luxury furniture in China.
According to an analysis by Statista, the value of the Italian furniture market in the country is expected to reach $ 158,572 million in 2021, with an annual growth of 6.6% between 2021-2025.
On the other hand, the data speak for themselves: Chinese economy grew 2.3% last year, despite Covid-19 shutdowns causing output to slump in early 2020, proving to be the only large economy to have experienced an expansion in 2020.
Case history: From Venice to Shenyang, #consolidation mood
As experts in the ocean freight consolidation services and in the furniture logistics, a couple of months ago we were contacted by an international luxury interior design studio.
We had the pleasure to organize their beginning sea shipment of furniture and decorative subjects destined to a luxury hotel project located in Shenyang, a city located in Northeast China.
With goods originating from several suppliers and destined to one single Chinese importer, consolidated shipping was the best solution to optimize supply chain logistics, save time and reduce cost.
In coordination with all suppliers, we grouped and stored goods at our support warehouse in Venice, in compliance with the departure of the vessel.
The biggest problem? Certainly the difficulties, typical of this period, in finding the empty equipment. Considering the customer’s deadlines, the issue made us change the the port of loading from Venice to Trieste, where we found the required equipment.
Consolidation shipment was on DDP Incoterm basis, thus including the import customs clearance and the final delivery.
